A native of the US, Ashton later moved to Singapore, where he lived for a few years before returning to America to attend Carleton College in Minnesota. After finishing his studies, he returned to Asia, this time settling in Beijing where he studied at the IUP program at Tsinghua University. Currently, in his time outside work, he enjoys reading, writing, and playing bass.
