Shuk-Wah Chung

Shuk-Wah Chung is an Australian freelance radio/print journalist currently living in Beijing, China. Around her mid-twenties, after reading an Amy Tan book, Shuk-Wah suddenly reached an identity crisis. Noticing the lack of "Chinese-ness" in her she started learning Mandarin; fell in love with Gong Li films; and truly believed that China was an evil communist nation thanks to the work of exiled Chinese writer Jung Chang. Becoming bored of the slow-pace of Sydney, the lack of a proper culture and getting tired of "yellow fevered" men, she packed up and left for China in 2008.
